“Bread that strengthens the heart of man"

What to expect

Join us at the Ark for a hands on baking workshop followed by a farm to table dining experience. Our main course will be a fall harvest chili featuring local angus beef.

Throughout the day we’ll learn how to freshly mill whole wheat berries, explore why freshly milled flour is so different from the flours at grocery stores and restaurants, and talk about the incredible flavor, freshness, and nourishment that lives inside the whole grain.

Then, we bake! Using just four simple ingredients, You’ll learn how to create a rustic country loaf that is delicious, approachable, and something you can confidently recreate in your own kitchen.

We’ll talk about working with freshly milled dough, what to look and feel for as your dough develops, shaping your loaf, proofing, baking, and all of the little things that help transform a few humble ingredients into a delicious wholesome loaf.

This class isn’t about becoming a perfect baker or learning complicated techniques. It’s about remembering that making our own food can be simple, joyful and empowering!

You’ll leave with a freshly baked loaf, a greater understanding of whole grains, the confidence to begin milling and baking at home, the ability to purchase freshly milled flour, and knowledge of what true nourishment looks and tastes like!

Come ready to get a little messy, learn something new, and make some beautiful life giving bread.
